The Problem: Tortilla manufacturer generates wastewater in the process of cleaning the tortilla and tortilla chip manufacturing machines. Cleanings are constant throughout the week and on the weekend the entire plant is cleaned and sanitized. These cleaning evolutions generate a volume of wastewater that is loaded with FOG ( Fats, Oils, and Grease) and Suspended Solids. Their discharges were exceeding the local POTW requirements and they were under a directive to reduce the discharge of FOG and TSS. The
Answer: The ClearFlow CF-400 has been applied to pre-treat the generated waste stream providing clean, clear water. The waste flow from the plant is pumped from an in-ground separator and directed to a screen filter to remove large particles such as chip pieces and other objects. The waste is then directed to two 4500 gallon EQ tanks. The CF 400 pulls wastewater from the EQ tanks and processes it removing the TSS and FOG down to minimal levels and even to a non-detect level. The installation of the CF 400 has provided the company with a reliable process that is compact and easy to operate. The system has provided the local POTW with a high quality of discharge they never expected from this facility.
